Essential, owned by Andy Rubin (co-founder of Android), finally announced PH-1 smartphone, as expected. The main highlight of this smartphone is its 5.7-inch edge-to-edge display around 84% screen-to-body ratio.
Another noticeable feature is its modularity feature that allows you to attach a 360 degree camera which can record up to 4K videos at 30fps. It is powered by flagship grade, Snapdragon 835 processor paired with Adreno 540 GPU under the hood. As we mentioned, the handset flaunt 5.71-inch 1312x2560px QHD with aspect ratio of 19:10, protection added of Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on main display as well as rear panel of this device.
In terms of camera, it comes with dual 13MP camera setup on rear with RGB and monochrome combination whereas 8MP front-facing shooter to capture selfies. In terms of storage, the device packs 128GB internal storage but without any expendation option. Device dimensions are 141.5mm x 71.1mm x 7.8mm and weights around 185 gram. Fingerprint sensor is integrated on rear and no implementation of 3.5 mm headphone jack.
The handset is backed by 3040 mAh battery with fast charging support. Other connectivity features include Bluetooth 5.0,WiFi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac with MIMO, NFC, GPS and GLONASS and USB type C port for charging. It runs on Android 7.1 OS custom UI on top.
Pricing and Availability
The Essential PH-1 smartphone is priced at $699 (approx. 44,500 INR) and comes in Black Moon, Stellar Grey, Pure White and Ocean Depths color option. Currently, it is up pre-orders in US and expected to release in Q3,2017. Their is a combo offer avilable which bundle with the 360-degree camera and costs 749$ (approx. 48,000). As of now, US people only to take hand on the device and no information available of its launch in other parts of the world.
