Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro are finally unwrapped by the company officials with the latest hardware and brand new design. The company is highlighting its Mate “20” since the arrival of iPhone “X” series and claiming to beat the Apple products. Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro both arrive with DCI-P3 HDR Displays of different sizes. The Mate 20 comes with 6.53-inch 2244 x 1080 pixels FHD+ IPS panel, while, the pro variant has slightly smaller 6.39-inch 3120 x 1440 pixels QHD+ OLED 19.5:9 display on the front. First time in the history of Mate series, the company has brought a smaller panel on “Pro” variant, otherwise, all the older Mate “Pro” smartphones have a bigger display. Both the smartphones are powered by the Huawei Kirin 980 processor clocked at 2.6 GHz with 720 MHz ARM Mali-G76MP10 GPU to handle the graphics-intensive tasks.

As for optics, the Mate 20 carries a triple 12MP f/1.8 + 16MP (U/W), f/2.2 + 8MP (Telephoto) f/2.4, laser focus, phase focus, contrast focus, AIS rear camera and a 24MP single shooter on the front. On the other hand, The Mate 20 Pro also boasts a triple rear camera but with different sensors size. It has 40MP, f/1.8 + 20MP(U/W), f/2.2 + 8MP (Telephoto), f/2.4, laser focus, phase focus, contrast focus, AIS (Huawei AI Image Stabilization) and same 24MP front camera for selfies. Both Mate and Mate Pro include several AI features to take a different kind of shots and well capable of shooting up to 4K videos as far as rear-mounted cameras are concerned.

The Mate 20 Pro is backed by the 4,200 mAh non-removable battery, whereas, Mate 20 has a 4,000 mAh non-removable battery. The Pro variant supports 40W (10V/4A) Huawei SuperCharge fast charging technology that lets you charge the phone from 0 to 70% in 30 minutes including 15W Wireless Quick Charge support and comes with Wireless Reverse Charge, which enables the device to work as a power bank for devices supporting Qi wireless charging. The Mate 20 (non-pro) lacks 40W charger, but still offers standard fast charge, which gives it authority to charge 50% of battery in 30 minutes and it does not have wireless charging support.

Considering the storage, The Mate 20 Pro comes with 6GB LPDDR4x RAM + 128GB of internal storage. The non-pro variant either offering two variants with 128GB of internal storage with either 4GB or 6GB LPDD4X RAM. Both Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro has external nano-micro SD slot with up to 256GB of storage expansion. These smartphones run on Android 9.0 (Pie) with EMUI 9.0, includes essential connectivity features, IP68 water/dust resistance and dual stereo speakers support. The standard Mate 20 embedded in a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, while, the pro variant has an in-display fingerprint sensor.

The Huawei Mate 20  is priced at 799 Euros (approx. $925) for the base variant and higher variant goes up to 849 Euros (Approx. $980) and comes in Midnight Blue, Black, and Twilight color options. The Huawei Mate 20 Pro starts at 1049 Euros (Approx. $1,210) for the 6GB RAM with 128GB storage variant comes in Midnight Blue, Black, Twilight and Emerald Green color options. Both these will go on sale in select markets such as U.K., France, Italy and United Arab Emirates starting from October 16.
