Huawei Mate 9 spotted with curved display, The Mate 9 Pro will be the dual-edge version of Huawei’s high-end phablet to be unveiled in a couple of weeks. So far known as Long Island, this tricked out model will offer QHD resolution as opposed to the 1080p of Manhattan (Mate 9 proper).

Daydream has been the incentive here – Google’s VR feature will only be supported on the Mate 9 Pro, and not the vanilla version. Not surprising, really – 1080p resolution stretched to 6 inches, and you’ll certainly be counting pixels, instead of enjoying VR.

Other specs are similar in pro and non-pro version. Both smartphones are expected to launch with a Kirin 960 chipset inside. Other specs are 4GB of RAM, storage starting at 64GB and a dual camera setup on the back – complete with Leica branding, of course.

Huawei is expected to unveil both models at a November 3 launch event in Munich, Germany.
