MediaTek Helio P70 vs Snapdragon 710 vs Snapdragon 675:- MediaTek just upgrades its Helio line-up with new Helio P70 chipset. The new SoC directly competes with Qualcomm’s newly introduced Snapdragon 710 and Snapdragon 675 as far as on paper specs are concerned. However, MediaTek’s market share has been shrunk to a minimal level, but still, the company is fighting hard to achieve its lost glory. Once there was a time when MediaTek’s chipsets were the first choice of OEM for mid-range smartphones, but the time changed dramatically and Qualcomm is the new leader with its highly optimized and power efficient chips. CPU & GPU

The MediaTek Helio P70 is powered by the octa-core CPU built on 4x 2.1 GHz Cortex-A73 and 4x 2.0 GHz Cortex-A53, processed with 12nm architecture. The Snapdragon 710 uses custom 8x Kryo 360 cores clocked up to 2.2 GHz, while, the Snapdragon 675 has upgraded 8x Kryo 460 cores, where 2X cores are pointed at powerful 2X Cortex-A76 and rest of the Cortex-A55 cores are pointed to power efficient 1.8 GHz. Undoubtedly, the Snapdragon 675 has more powerful CPU compared to Helio P70 and Snapdragon 710 and, SD710 sits on 2nd position followed by P70 on 3rd.

When it comes to GPU, the Helio P70 packs Mali-G72 MP3. On the other hand, Snapdragon 675 has Adreno 612 GPU and 710 is equipped with Adreno 616 GPU. The Mali-G72 MP3 is capable GPU but uses old technology compared to Adreno 612 and Adreno 616. Therefore, Adreno 612 and Adreno 616 are equally good and very well optimized and easily beat the Mali-G72 used on Helio P70.

Camera & Display

As for optics, The Helio P70 can handle up to 32MP single or dual 24MP + 16MP cameras. Unfortunately, the company didn’t unveil the ISP part, which is very important for any camera module. On the other hand, Snapdragon 710 employs single 32MP or dual 20MP cameras coupled with 14-bit Qualcomm Spectra 250 with 2x image processing. The Snapdragon 675 can bring up to single 25MP or dual 16MP cameras paired with 14-bit Qualcomm Spectra 250L with 2x image processing. Both Snapdragon 710 and 675 come with very well optimized image processing unit, but Helio p70 don’t provide any information regarding its ISP, therefore, we can’t judge it based on megapixels.

Moving further to display, the Helio P70 can support up to 2400 x 1080 pixels Full HD+ display panel, which further expands to 3360×1440 pixels on Snapdragon 710 and 2520×1080 pixels on Snapdragon 675. Display wise, the SD710 is winner followed by Snapdragon 675 and Helio P70. It will worth mentioning that most of the mid-range smartphone still use Full HD panels and it is practical too to save the battery and to offer a smooth experience.

Connectivity

The Snapdragon 710 utilities the latest LTE X15 Modem, which can provide up to 800Mbps download and 150Mbps upload speed. The Snapdragon 675 carries LTE X12 Modem, which is well capable of accommodating up to 600Mbps download and 150Mbps upload speed. The LTE modem used on Helio P70 can offer only up to 300 Mbps download and 150Mbps upload speed, which is way behind to Snapdragon 710 and Snapdragon 675 in any way. But most of the countries still unable to match the speed offered by Helio P70. So, it totally depends on which country you are living in. It is totally worthless to compare the speed for developing countries, where, 100Mbps speed is still a dream. Rest, all the essential connectivity options are included on all three chipsets.
