Nokia 7.1 with Snapdragon 636, 5.84 Full HD+ display, PureView dual rear camera announced

Nokia has announced a new mid-range smartphone dubbed as Nokia 7.1 as it was expected. This is an upgraded version of the original Nokia 7 Plus with some significant improvements. The handset features a 5.84-inch 1080 x 2280 pixels Full HD+  19:9 display having a notch and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection, 80% screen-to-body ratio, has the support of HDR10 and also supports SD to HDR real-time conversion.

It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset paired with Adreno 509 GPU for graphics-intensive tasks. The optics department is managed by the dual 12MP (RGB) + 5MP (telephoto) sensors with ZEISS branding as HMD usually does with its smartphones. The front-facing has an 8MP sensor with AI capabilities to take selfies, also has facial recognition for face lock. It runs on Android 8.1 with stock Android UI. Being an Android One device, Google will take care of future updates and Android 9.0 Pie is imminent.

The Nokia 7.1 is backed by the 3,060 mAh non-removable battery and measures 149.7 x 71.18 x 7.99 mm, while, the weight is 160 grams. As for storage, it has two different storage variant: either 3GB LPPDDR4x RAM + 32GB storage or 4GB LPPDDR4x RAM + 64GB of built-in storage. The hybrid Dual-SIM device packs with all the essential connectivity features including Dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (dual-band), Bluetooth 5.0, GPS with GLONASS, NFC, and Type-C port for charging.

Pricing and Availability

The Nokia 7.1 Europian base variant starts from €319 and goes up to €349 for higher storage variant, whereas, it is priced at 349$ for USA base variant and it is already up for pre-orders and will start shipping from October 28 in various part of the Europe and United States of America. It comes in Gloss Midnight Blue and Gloss Steel as far as colors are concerned.
