Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 vs MediaTek MT6757CD Helio P25 – Qualcomm is Market leader when it comes to manufacturing smartphone Chipset. On the other hand, MediaTek is trying hard to compete with Qualcomm. Snapdragon 625 is an innovation from Qualcomm and Helio P25 comes from MediaTek to compete with SD625 in the mid-range segment. On paper, these two SoCs are looking pretty good and here in this article will be comparing both the chipsets basis on their real-life performance. Without any further ado, Let’s get started:
MediaTek Helio P25 vs Qualcomm Snapdragon 625
Helio P25 (MT6757CD) | Snapdragon 625 | |

First of all, we will be starting from the CPU. The Snapdragon 625 uses 14nm ARM-based 2.0GHz octa-core Cortex-A53 processor whereas, Helio P25 is based on 16nm process and arrives with 16nm ARM-based 2.6GHz octa-core Cortex-A53 on 64-bit architecture. Being a higher clocked CPU, P25 should be performed battery during heavy multi-tasking, But Snapdragon 625 either a good performer due to its better optimizations. Under the hood, Helio p25 is competent to hold LPDDR3 or LPDDR4X up to 6GB RAM (933 MHz), but Snapdragon 625 is restricted to significantly slower LPDDR3 RAM support, definitely, there is an edge for P25 over SD625.
The GPU is given on SD625 is Adreno 506 and Helio P25 employs Mali-T880 MP2. If we compare given GPUs with each other, assuredly, Adreno 506 should be blown away Mali-T880 MP2. If you love to play games, I would suggest you go with Snapdragon 625 powered device. Adreno 506 is a solid player what you could expect from a mid-range device powered by Snapdragon 625.
Regarding the optics, both support either a 24MP single camera or Dual (13MP + 13MP) on either side. In terms of camera, you shouldn’t have any issue, if the device manufacturer is using good camera sensors. However, Qualcomm uses to bring better optimised ISP, so there might be an advantage for Snapdragon to provide better camera enforcement.
These two chipsets uphold up to Full HD (1080 x 1920 pixels) displays; therefore you would be able to enjoy clear and crisp display on both. Apart from that, both are capable to record up to 4K video on their given optics. These are having Fast Charging support as well. When it comes to connectivity, both include all the essential connectivity options such as Bluetooth, FM Radio, GNSS (GPS, Glonass, Beidou, Galileo), and Wi-Fi.
Further, Snapdragon 625 attains with LTE X9 Modem, that can provide you up to 300 Mbps download and 150Mbps upload speeds. In the same time, Helio p25 bring LTE cat6 supported model, that could afford up to 300 Mbps download and max. 50Mbps upload speeds.
Final Verdict
However, both are having some plus and minus points, but Snapdragon 625 is an overall balanced performer, doesn’t matter on which condition you are using it. The Snapdragon 625 comes with a balanced combination, neither powerful CPU nor weak GPU. All in all, Snapdragon 625 is better SoC unitedly, but P25 has powerful CPU, but at the same time not an impressive GPU and lack of useful optimisations. Both are good their own, but 625 is comparatively a better choice in given same price bracket. But if you are getting a cheaper deal on Helio P25, then just go and grab it!
Note: SD625 is used for Snapdragon 625.
