Multitasking and GPU

The Snapdragon 670 comes with 8 cores processor coupled Custom Kryo 360 (4 x ARM Cortex A75 + 4 x ARM Cortex A55) clocked at 2.2 GHz and 1.7 GHz respectively. On the other hand, Snapdragon 710 uses the same cores but with slightly overclocked CPU at 2.2 GHz. Regarding the CPU, Snapdragon 710 has an edge and capable of providing marginally batter multitasking.

When it comes to GPU, Snapdragon SD670 equipped with Adreno 615 GPU, whereas, SD710 accumulates Adreno 616 GPU, which is somewhat more powerful than the Adreno 615 but not that much. Moreover, these two processors are offering faster LPDDR 4X Memory to provide the further boost in performance. In this criteria, both of them have almost similar configuration but Snapdragon 710 wins the race, but very minimal points.

Camera

The camera has been an important part of the modern smartphones and plays a major role to impress the consumers. However, the smartphone camera never takes the place of DSLRs but it has been very powerful over the years. Snapdragon 670 and 710, both of the chips bring some interesting camera features like Zero Shutter Lag, Hybrid Autofocus, Ultra HD 4K video capture at 30fps and Improved Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS).

When it comes to megapixels, the Snapdragon 670 supports up to a single 25 MP camera or dual 16 MP + 16 MP camera on both front and rear. It’s associate Snapdragon 710 can handle up to 32 MP single or same dual 16 MP + 16 MP camera. However, 25 MP is more than enough but the advantage goes to SD710 for higher megapixels. Both support highly optimized Qualcomm Spectra 250 ISP for the better shot. Regarding the camera, both of the chipsets are equally good and there is a tie.

Display and Connectivity

The display supported by Snapdragon 670 is Full HD+ or 1600 x 2560 pixels for bigger devices. On the other side, Snapdragon 710 can easily manage up to Quad HD+ display on smartphones, also it supports HDR10 for premium content. Definitely, Snapdragon 710 easily beats in the display department, but most of the mid-range smartphones still offer Full HD display, which is either adequate for an average user.

For connectivity, Snapdragon 670 is powered by Qualcomm’s X12 LTE modem, which can give a maximum speed up 600 Mbps for download and  150 Mbps for the upload. Another hand, The Snapdragon 710 has X15 LTE modem, that produces higher 800 Mbps for the download and same 150 Mbps for the upload and both of the processors arrive with Dual 4G VoLTE technology built-in. Connectivity wise, Snapdragon 710 has a better offering but with having slightly ahead similar to other aspects.

Conclusion

Both Snapdragon 670 and Snapdragon 710 offers impressive internals for the forthcoming mid-range devices. These are highly optimized Qualcomm chips with great power efficiency as both are the architect on advanced 10 nm process. There is no doubt that Snapdragon 710 comes with better onboard specs but in real world usage I don’t think you would notice any difference but 710 definitely wins being a more sturdy processor, but 670 powered devices will be more cost-effective, so both have their own advantages and disadvantages.

Notable differences:

  • Snapdragon 710 has slightly better multitasking capabilities
  • Snapdragon 710 packs upgraded LTE modem with faster speed internet
  • Higher megapixels camera supported by Snapdragon 710
