Snapdragon 845 vs Snapdragon 710 comparison: Qualcomm added a new chipset in its lineup called Snapdragon 710. The processor created a lot of hype before its arrival due to its high-end configurations. The processor stands in between company’s “600” series and “800” series and has some impressive internals. The company’s current flagship Snapdragon 845 is being used in most of the high-end devices, but after the arrival of the 710, we are going to see some great performing smartphones close the 845 powered devices. In this article, we are going to give a fair comparison between Snapdragon 845 and Snapdragon 710. So without any further ado let’s get started:

Snapdragon 845 vs Snapdragon 710 Specs Compare

CPU and GPU Performance

The Snapdragon 845 comes with Kryo 385 based octa-core with a maximum clock speed up to 2.8 GHz, whereas, the latest 710 has eight core Kryo 360 based CPU clocked at 2.2 GHz. After seeing the specs, there is no doubt remains about CPU capabilities and 845 wins it easily. The CPU provided by 845 is much more powerful than the 710. Moreover, both the chips are built on 10nm architecture. So, both are highly power efficient chips in the industry.

When it comes to GPU, the Snapdragon 845 accumulates Adreno 630 GPU supporting the maximum APIs including OpenGL ES 3.2, OpenCL 2.0 full, Vulkan and DX12. On the other hand, the other chipset brings Adreno 616 GPU, which is pretty much capable of handling the low to high-end graphics but doesn’t stand near the Adreno 630. Overall, both CPU and GPU provided by Snapdragon 845 wins the race but 710 can manage maximum tasks on any Android device but 845 is an advanced capability to run the device more smoothly.

Camera and Connectivity

In recent years, we have seen a great evolution in mobile phones camera and Qualcomm played a major role in these improvements. These two processors even take it further. The Snapdragon 845 supports up to 32 MP single camera or Dual 16 MP cameras. The Snapdragon 710 offers more megapixels of dual cameras of 20 MP and the single-camera remains similar to the SD845. Definitely, in terms of megapixels, SD710 beats the 845 but when it comes to optimizations, then 845 goes ahead.

The Snapdragon 845 supports Qualcomm Spectra 280 ISP with maximum cameras features including Active Depth Sensing, Multi-frame Noise Reduction (MFNR), Hybrid Autofocus, Hardware Accelerated Face Detection, that is much faster than Spectra 250 provided by Snapdragon 710. So, you will see a much faster image processing on 845 powered devices. Both the SoCs can shoot up to 4k Ultra HD video, but Snapdragon 845 also support Slow Motion video @480 FPS and 4K @60 FPS. Snapdragon 710 shooting capabilities reduced to 120 FPS for 720p and 30 FPS for 4K videos.

When it comes to connectivity, The Snapdragon 845 has X20 LTE modes, which can go up to 1.2 Mbps for downloading and 150 Mbps for uploading, while, the Snapdragon 710 has X15 LTE mode with peak downloading speed up to 800 Mbps and 150 Mbps uploading speed. Both chipsets come with Dual VoLTE feature. Overall, Snapdragon 845 also wins the camera and connectivity department.

Display and Other Features

The display support provided by Snapdragon 845 is up to 4K ultra HD, whereas, Snapdragon 710 can hold only Quad-HD+ display with maximum resolutions of up 3360 x 1440 pixels, which should don’t bother the consumers because most of the modern era smartphones are being supplied with QHD display, which I think is more than enough, also save some battery juice. Both can project up to the 4K resolution on the external device.

Regarding, When it comes to Artificial Intelligence (AI) support, both the chipsets are designed keeping eye on that. These to chipset support Qualcomm’s latest Hexagon 685 DSP, so there shouldn’t be an issue for developers to develop latest AI applications. The last but very important point is security. Qualcomm has always been concerned about security features and these two chipsets are delivering almost all the security features including biometrics and WiFi.

Conclusion

There is no doubt that Snapdragon 710 is a very competitive processor but Snapdragon 845’s advanced capabilities win the most of departments, Still, 710 will provide cheaper smartphones with great performance and budget-friendly. Qualcomm didn’t touch its flagship grade but provided another option to fill the gap of flagship and mid-range device. So, the Snapdragon 710 chipset will be used in the upper mid-range device and we can say it a successor of 660 with latest configurations. I hope that I have cleared all of your doubts, if still, you have any question, you are always welcomed in our comment section!
