Xiaomi’s most affordable smartphone Redmi 5A finally launched in Indonesia after a long tail of circulations. Most recent, the device was introduced in India priced at Rs. 4,999 after a promo discount.
The headset features 5.0-inch 720p traditional 16:9 aspect ratio HD display coupled with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 425 processor. It runs on MIUI 9 based Android 7.1.2 along with 3,000 mAh non-removable battery. In terms of camera, the device packs 13 MP rear and a 5MP front-facing shooter. Regarding the storage, only 2 GB RAM variant is introduced in Indonesia, that also has 16 GB of internal storage. Originally, the device was announced in two storage variants, either 2 GB RAM / 16 GB storage or 3 GB RAM / 32 GB storage, but unfortunately not the case with Indonesia.
The good thing is that the phone comes with dedicated micro SD slot; which can help you to increase the storage further up to 128 GB. Two nano SIMs + micro SD card can be used simultaneously. The headset measures 140.4 x 70.1 mm x 8.35 mm and weighs only 137 grams. Other basic connectivity features include such as 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS / GLONASS and micro USB 2.0 port. Moreover, the device is made out of polycarbonate (plastic).
Pricing and availability
The Redmi 5A smartphone comes in gold, silver, and pink color options. It is priced at 999000 Indonesian Rupiah or roughly converted into 70$ or ₹4,700. When it comes to availability, The headset will start selling from December 27 on the Indonesian online store Lazada.
