Xiaomi has finally unveiled the first smartphone of “Redmi 5 series” dubbed as Redmi Note 5A as expected. The handset brings two different variants with different onboard specifications.
The base variant is powered by Snapdragon 425 SoC paired with Adreno 308 GPU. It packs 2GB RAM coupled with 16GB internal storage and there is no fingerprint sensor present on this device. Regarding cameras, The device comes with 13MP rear and 5MP front facing cameras. On the other hands, higher end variant packed with Snapdragon 435 chipset with Adreno 505 GPU.
Unlike the base variant, the device bears 13MP, f2.2 aperture rear snapper while on the front, it has 16MP selfie shooter with OmniVision sensor, f/2.0 aperture, and 76.4-degree wide-angle lens. On the rear side, the fingerprint scanner is embedded.
Both the variants are equipped with 5.5-inch HD 2.5D curved glass display, run on Android 7.1.1 based MIUI 9 custom UI. These variants are backed by 3080 mAh battery and has dual SIM support with dedicated micro SD slot. Other connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 and GPS.

Pricing and Availability
The base variant of Xiaomi Redmi 5A is priced at 699 yuan (approx. 6,800 INR or 105US$) which goes up 899 RMB (approx. 8,600 INR or 135US$) for 435 version with 3GB RAM + 32GB and 4GB RAM + 64GB storage variant costs 1,199 RMB (approx. 11,500 INR or 180US$). All these variants are available in Champagne Gold, Rose Gold, and Platinum Silver color options. As for availability, it will be available for purchase in China starting from tomorrow or August 22.
