Xioami CEO Lei Jun confirms the launch event of Redmi 5A, an imminent mid-range device from the company. In a Weibo post, He quoted that the event will take place on August 21 at 7:30 pm China Time (Monday) and further added: “high value, high quality, super cost.” means the device would be including high quality at a super affordable price. Anyway, the official launch will explicate us how good the device is. Moreover, the smartphone has already got approval from TEENA certification site.

According to TEENA, The Redmi 5A has two major variants. The higher end variant comes with Snapdragon 430 chipset and 16MP rear and 13MP front cameras combo. On the other end, the lower specced variant employs 425 SoC along with 13MP rear and 5MP selfie shooter. Both the devices have 5.5-inch 720 x 1280p HD display, 3000 mAh battery, two different storage option – 2GB RAM + 16GB or 3GB RAM + 32GB storage.
Furthermore, the device is presumed to be priced at RMB 1,000 for the Chinese market. All in all, On paper device looks similar to Redmi 4A with minor improvements. But we have to wait for official launch to reach out to the final conclusion.
