Samsung announced Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus, its much-awaited smartphones of this year. Samsung has removed its traditional hardware home button and replaced it with software buttons like other Android phones.

Samsung Galaxy S8

The Samsung Galaxy S8 has a 5.8 inches 1440×2960 pixels Super AMOLED display with 83.7% screen-to-body ratio, highest on any Samsung smartphone. It has two variants, Snapdragon 835 powered model for US specific region and Exynos 8895 for its international audience. As far as storage is concerned, it has 64GB internal storage coupled with 4GB RAM. It packs a 3000 mAh battery under the hood. For optics, it comes with 12MP Dual Pixel rear camera with LED Flash, f/1.7 aperture and 8MP autofocus f/1.7 aperture front-facing camera.

Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus

The Samsung Galaxy S8 plus, bigger variant has 6.2 inches large 1440×2960 pixels display at 529 PPI. It is powered by same Snapdragon 835 and Exynos 8895 processor under the hood. For storage, it has 64GB internal storage with 4GB of RAM. It has same front and rear cameras as above mentioned for S8. As far as battery is concerned, it has bigger 3500 mAh battery as compared to Galaxy S8.

Both the smartphones run on Android 7.0 Nougat Touchwiz UI on top. Connectivity features include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4/5GHz), VHT80 MU-MIMO, Bluetooth v 5.0 (LE up to 2Mbps), GPS with GLONASS, USB 2.0, NFC, MST. Both handsets have two different variants, Dual and Single SIM support. Both phones come with IP68 water and dust resistance. They have new Bixby virtual assistant support as well.

Pricing and Availability

The Galaxy S8 is priced at $750 (Rs. 48,660 approx.) and the Galaxy S8+ costs $850 (Rs. 55,140 approx.). Both smartphones will be available Midnight Black, Orchid Gray, Coral Blue, Arctic Silver, and Maple Gold color options. It also comes with earphones tuned by AKG by Harman in the box, which will be available separately for $99 (Rs. 6420 approx.). Both the phones will be available for pre-order starting tomorrow, March 30th, and goes on sale available starting on April 21.
