MediaTek has finally announced two mid-segment chipsets dubbed as Helio P23 and Helio P30, latest SoCs in its “P” series. Both of the chipsets are built on 16nm process, which is a good thing considering the power efficiency. Like other members of “P” series, both of these are having octa-core CPUs with similar 8 x A53 cores clocked up to  2.3GHz. The GPU is given Mali-G71 MP2, with a slight edge for P30 with max. freq. up to 950MHz over P23’s 770MHz, either an immeasurable upgrade over Helio P20 and P25’s Mali-T880 GPU.

As far as cameras are concerned, The Helio P23 can hold up to dual 13MP cameras or 24MP single camera whereas, Helio P30 goes as much as dual 16MP cameras or a 25MP camera on the back. Apart from that, both the chipsets are supporting LTE cat 7 and 13 which are capable of going up to 300Mbps for download and 150Mbps upload speed with VoLTE.

Moving to availability, Both Helio P23, and P30 powered devices will be arriving in the market by the end of this year.  But one catch is here as P30 will be only available for China. All in all, both of these SoCs are looking promising as far as mid-range segment devices are concerned.
