iPhone 8 is a hot topic among the analyzers as it is Apple’s most anticipated smartphone to proceed with some innovative features alongside. Now, according to an investor note obtained by AppleInsider claims that Apple has decided to eliminate fingerprint Touch ID. In this note KGI Securities analyst “Ming-Chi Kuo,” says that “Apple has canceled plans to embed a fingerprint recognition solution in next generation iPhone.”
Kuo in July released a list of main features of the iPhone 8, which did indicate about the unavailability of fingerprint recognition technology; though he did not point out that Apple has completely abandoned this feature. However, It is unclear when Apple made the decision, but Fingerprint recognition is a most useful feature offered by the iPhones.
He says at the time, “Apple will abandon the capacitive sensing technology, switch to OLED stack can be read through the optical solution. This screen fingerprint recognition excludes the need for a dedicated Home entity button to achieve a full display.”
Kuo’s report predicts that Apple was on track to deliver on-screen fingerprint sensors (Touch ID). For example, in June this year, investment bank Cowen and Company analyst Timothy Arcuri (Timothy Arcuri) said that Apple has three options: to reduce the fingerprint sensor area above the glass thickness, in the glass piercing a small hole into a smaller sensor, or a thin film sensor on the screen.
If you remember, the recent release of HomePod firmware looks to endorse the statement of Kuo. The code compared with the phone’s “face detection” software confirms that it is associated with Apple Pay authentication, which is called “Pearl ID” in the firmware. This shows that the new iPhone will support facial unlocking.
Furthermore, Kuo spoke in today’s report, “Apple’s decision for the opponent Samsung in 2018 to provide some breathing space. If the iPhone 8 couldn’t achieve on-screen fingerprint technology before iPhone 8’s release, then Samsung is unlikely to carry in the new generation of “Galaxy S9″ in the launch of this technology, which focuses on the further development of iris recognition and dual lens camera function.”
Additionally, Vivo has already showcased this technology by collaborating with Qualcomm, and few renders of Vivo’s Upcoming smartphones has been surfaced online that suggests likely to adopt this technology.

He further predicts that Samsung will eventually integrate the optical fingerprint hardware under Galaxy Note 9, which is expected to be available in the Galaxy S9 after several months of launch, as early as 2018 the new iPhone. All in all, It would be interesting to see who does it first, though, multiple brands are making their efforts to bring it first.
